| symmlab is a business involving the art and science of maths and music, separately and together. As the name suggests the scope of symmlab is to explore mathematical and musical symmetries. But importantly it aims to look for practical applications of this viewpoint of the universe. Hence it is not only involved in studying maths and music but applying the results to other areas of life such as sciences like physics and electronics, social interactions, and physical health and fitness. Symmetry is a universal and fundamental manifestation in reality so there is a lot to discuss. In a practical sense we aims to inspire mathematicians and kusicians and keep a balance in their lives. |
| Peter Huf (BA BSc(Hons) BComp,DipElectronics PhD PhD, director symmlab-bach2roq-mathscience365) has worked as a scientist and musician since 1978. He has tertiary qualifications in Arts and Sciences with majors in mathematics, history and philosophy of science, chemistry, biochemistry and computing, a PhD in biochemistry, a Diploma in Electronics and a PhD in mathematics. He has worked as lecturer at Deakin University in various sciences, and undertaken postdoctoral research in biochemistry, physiology and neurology and mathematics, authoring about 30 publications and abstracts. He has studied classical guitar at Melbourne University Conservatorium. His musical qualifications include grade 8 classical guitar and piano (AMEB). He has taught music for more than 40 years, and since 1987 has released 4 albums, including "Classical Twelve String Guitar" vols. 1 -3 and "Eclectomania". Peter's albums have been occasionally presented on ABC Classic FM radio. He currently works both at Deakin University as a sessional lecturer and freelance as a scientist and musician and is director of the bach2roq group which is involved in innovative methods and software technologies in maths and science education and music. He is a keen sportman playing whatever he can but relly liking dancing and tai chi as he gets older. |
